From Enquiry
to Installation

How ordering a bespoke OC Slimline internal door works — from your first visit to the day we fit it.

A bespoke product, a clear process

Every door is made to your exact opening — here is what that means in practice

OC Slimline doors are not shelf stock. Each one is manufactured after we understand your opening, your configuration preferences, and the conditions on site. That process involves more steps than buying a standard door — but each step exists for a reason, and the result is a door that fits precisely and performs for decades.

Below is the full sequence from first contact to installation day, with a note on what happens at each stage and what we need from you. If you are still comparing configurations, browse the OC Slimline catalogue alongside this guide.

The eight steps

01

Showroom visit

We start with a showroom visit at our Dublin showroom. Seeing the doors in person — profiles, glass types, hardware, RAL colours — makes every subsequent decision easier and faster. There is no obligation, and no pressure to commit on the day.

02

Preliminary quote

While you are considering your options, we issue a preliminary quote based on your opening size and configuration. This gives you a reliable price range before any commitment, so there are no surprises later in the process.

03

Detailed quote

Once you confirm the configuration — door type, glass, finish, and hardware — we issue a full, itemised quotation. This covers everything: the door set, any accessories, delivery, and installation.

04

50% deposit

To initiate production, we ask for a 50% deposit on acceptance of the detailed quote. This secures your place in the production schedule and confirms the specification is agreed.

05

Engineer survey

With the deposit received, one of our engineers visits the site to take precise measurements and assess the opening. We check for squareness, floor level, wall condition, and any constraints that affect the door set. The survey confirms — or refines — the specification before manufacture begins.

06

Production

Your door is manufactured to the surveyed dimensions at our facility. Every OC Slimline door is made to measure — steel profiles cut, welded, powder-coated, and glazed to your specification. Lead times vary by configuration; we keep you informed throughout.

07

Balance payment & installation date

When your door is ready, we contact you to confirm. At this point the remaining 50% balance is due, and we agree an installation date that suits your programme.

08

Installation day

Our installation team arrives, removes your existing door if required, and fits the new OC Slimline door set. Most single-door installations are completed in one day. We leave the opening clean and the door fully adjusted — aligned, latching smoothly, and ready to use.

What you need to have ready

For the preliminary quote, an approximate opening size (width × height) is enough. For the detailed quote, we need confirmed dimensions and a clear idea of your glass preference and RAL colour. We can advise on both during or after the showroom visit.

Retrofit vs. new opening

The process above applies whether you are replacing an existing door or installing into a new opening. For retrofit — fitting into an existing frame — the engineer survey is especially important, as older openings are rarely perfectly square. Read more about the OC Slimline retrofit solution.

Supply only vs. supply and install

We offer both options. If you have your own trusted installer, supply-only removes the installation steps from the process above — we deliver the door set to site and your installer fits it. If you want a single point of responsibility from survey to handover, supply and install is the straightforward choice.
