EN 1158 – Door Coordinator Devices

Standard: EN 1158

EN 1158 specifies requirements for door coordinator devices used in double-leaf doors. These devices ensure the correct closing sequence—passive leaf first, then active leaf—and are intended for fire-resistant and smoke-resistant door assemblies.

Standard Information

  • Standard: EN 1158
  • Title: Building hardware – Coordinators for hinged or pivoted door leaves – Requirements and test methods
  • Scope: Door coordinator devices for double-leaf doors

Purpose

In double-leaf fire doors, both leaves must close in the correct order for the door to seal properly. A door coordinator ensures that the passive (inactive) leaf closes first, followed by the active leaf. This sequence is required for fire and smoke resistance.

Application

Door coordinators compliant with EN 1158 are used with guide rail (sliding arm) door closers in double-leaf fire doors. The coordinator is mounted in the sliding rail between the two closers.

The ABLOY G461 is the door closing coordinator used in our double-leaf fire doors. See ABLOY G461 for product details.
